The Paul Weber Band

Saturday, 17 October 2026 at 19:00 GMT-4

Red Bird

1165 Bank St, Ottawa, Ontario, K1S 3X4, CA

Paul Weber and his band (Ode to Gerry Barber, Ghost Beer Train) are putting on a one-time show to celebrate 200 years of Bytown/Ottawa history. The show will be bilingual, in English and in French, and we will include original songs and stories covering the years from 1826 to today.  The band will be telling tales about people and places like Ottawa’s King of Kettle Island, the first airplane to Ottawa and a war that was fought in the market using hat pins! Expect laughter, high energy and to leave saying, "I didn't know that!"The Paul Weber Band is an Ottawa-based, five-person, bilingual band that performs high-energy folk tunes in English and French. Their shows are a voyage into local stories-- tales about bouncers (know who Gerry Barber is?) drag queens, homelessness, working class tragedies, ghost trains and the struggles of the Francophone community. The music combines the emotional rawness of Bruce Springsteen with the locally-themed songs of Stompin’ Tom, with a bit of Tom Wait’s influences thrown in occasionally. The band just released their second album titled, "Ghost Beer Train". Website:  www.paulweber.ca
